Philosophy of the Faculty of the BSN Program
The faculty of the BSN Department believes that education has the power to positively transform lives and it is the right of all individuals in pursuit of self-actualization.  The faculty also believes that BS Nursing curriculum should be built on a broad, general educational foundation, which provides the student with a greater understanding of the total environment in which the graduate lives and practices.  The baccalaureate nursing education should propel its graduates into the ever-expanding horizon of professional nursing, enable them meet the health and social needs of their clients and become a springboard for attainment of higher academic and professional goals.  The faculty subscribes to the ideal that human beings, health, nursing, education, and the environment underscore the organizing framework of a curriculum for family-entered practice in the community and professional development of nurses.  Therefore, the faculty is committed to this ideal in preparing students for professional practice to meet the needs of the diverse population of Central Brooklyn and a global society of the 21st century.
