Department Mission and Goals
-
to increase the participation of students with diverse educational,
socio-political, and cultural backgrounds in the biological sciences, in
the professions of medicine, dentistry, research, teaching, and in biologically-related
fields,

to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills
needed for career advancement and professional mobility in the biological
sciences and other areas,

to provide students with the knowledge of the role that modern
biological sciences and technology play in society and to provide them
with a sense of responsibility for their humanistic application,

to prepare students for leadership roles in their communities
and to foster their personal growth and development,

to enrich the knowledge and experiences of residents of the
community in the biological sciences, and

to increase community awareness and interaction in order
to provide the community with the necessary knowledge and commitment to
advocate for increased support for students and programs in the biological
sciences.
