April 2002

Medgar Evers/Kingsborough Bridge student participants, Biology-CSTEP student participants, and faculty attended the 10th Annual Statewide CSTEP Conference this past weekend. Eleven abstracts were submitted.

March 2002

Bridge student participants, and Biology faculty attended the 2002 Annual Plant Biology Graduate Program Colloquium this past weekend at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

December 2001

Margaret Carroll, Edward Catapane, and Ebere Nduka along with Gary Sarinsky and Peter Lanzetta of Kingsborough Community College  received a CUNY Groundworks Grant of $50,000 to continue and strengthen our joint research projects.

October 2001

Students and faculty in the MEC/KBCC Bridge program attended the  Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in Orlando Fl, October 2001.  Four posters were presented and two were selected for oral presentations.

Students and faculty in the MEC/KBCC Bridge and the Biology-CSTEP programs attended the 34th Annual Macub Conference at Union County College, NY, October 2001.  Eleven posters were presented.  Our students Julia Ebanks tied for second place for her presentation, while Surujnie Persaud and Kawasi Lett tied for third place with Elinor Rodriguez for their presentations.

June 8, 2001

Drs. Catapane, Zeitlin and Carroll gave a poster presentation Medgar Evers/Kingsborough Bridges to the Baccalaureate Program at the Annual Program Directors' Conference in Ellicott City, Maryland.

June 2001

Ifedayo Nicholson was accepted into the Summer Research Internship Program in Ecology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Seminar on Human Chromosomal Abnormalities and Developmental Disabilities by Dr. Edmund Jenkins of the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disorders of Staten Island, NY.  2:00 pm Room M239 at Kingsborough Community College.

The Bridge program has selected the first 17 Kingsborough student participants.  Interested students may still apply.
