November 2004

Students and faculty in the MEC/KBCC Bridge program attended the  Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in Dallas, TX, November 10-13, 2004   posters were presented and      were selected for oral presentations.

Students and faculty in the Biology-CSTEP program and the MEC/KBCC Bridge program attended the 37th Annual MACUB Conference at Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY   November 6, 2004.         posters were presented.

Karen Sessing, a Biology-CSTEP student was accepted into the Master of Science in Midwifery program at the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate).

Biology-CSTEP student participants, Medgar Evers/Kingsborough Bridge student participants, and faculty attended the 12th Annual Statewide CSTEP Conference this past weekend.      abstracts were submitted.

Dr. Margaret A. Carroll received a PSC/CUNY award award (7/1/04 - 6/30/05) to conduct research on "A Comparative Study on the in vivo and in vitro Effects of Heavy Metal Pollutants on Glutathione S-transferase Activity in the Tissues of the American Oyster, Crassostrea virginica."

Dr. Ebere Nduka received a PSC/CUNY award award (7/1/04 - 6/30/05) to conduct research on the "Application of HPLC with Flourescence Detection to Analyze Biogenic Amines in the American Oyster."
