CHORDATE DEVELOPMENT,   BIO 376

Lecture Text: Patten's Foundations of Embryology by Bruce M. Carlson

Laboratory Text: A Guide to Vertebrate Development by Robert Rugh

Students desiring to enroll in this course must have successfully completed BIO 201 and BIO 202, or receive special permission from the Chairperson. This course focuses on a study of the embryological development of chordate eggs. Topics include studies of biochemical, morphological and physiological events in differentiation and growth of cells, tissues and organ systems. Chordate evolution also is illustrated by such a comparative investigation. The lab will include detailed histological and morphological studies of the development of various chordate eggs, as well as exercises in experimental embryology of living eggs.
