Karen Clarke, Choy Lewis and Stanley A. Bajue, ORGANOTIN COMPLEXES OF THE TRANS-1,2-BIS(4-PYRIDYL)ETHYLENE LIGAND. Department of Phsyical Sciences and Computer Sciences, Medgar Evers College, CUNY, Brooklyn, NY 11225.

Reaction of the trans-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (BPE) ligand with (CH3)SnCl,(p-tolyl)3SnX(X=Cl, Br), (C6H5)3SnCl, (C6H5)3SnNCS and (p-ClC6H5)3SnCl yielded 2:1 (Sn: BPE) complexes. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopic (NMR, IR) and elemental analyses. The compounds are believed to be binuclear with a bridging pyridine ligand. Only hydrolysis products were obtained from the reactions with diorganotin dihalides.
