in
African World / Black Studies
Caribbean & Latin American Studies
and
Women's Studies
The world community today demands college or university graduates who are equipped to
function efficiently in an age of globalization. A Minor in African World/Black Studies,
Caribbean & Latin American Studies or Women’s Studies is a minimal preparation for such
global citizens being trained to appreciate human diversity; global, social and cultural
development issues; and the fundamentals of interdisciplinary and integrative studies.

Women Studies
DESCRIPTION: The Minor in Women’s Studies responds, in part, to a more
than twenty-five year internal demand for courses that broaden the foundation
of scholarly inquiry and that equip students to think critically from more
than one disciplinary perspective. Through a program of integrative study of
women’s experiences, the Women’s Studies Minor provides students with both a
rich grounding in the Liberal Arts and an understanding of human diversity,
capabilities of great interest to prospective employers and programs of
graduate study. The Women’s Studies Minor also responds to an increased
external demand for expertise in women’s or gender issues and for specialists
in Women’s Studies.
REQUIREMENTS: The Women’s Studies Minor, effective Spring
Semester 2007, entails 12 credits of Women’s Studies courses, including
at least one course at the 100 and/or 200 level and at least two courses
at the 300 and/or 400 level. Courses offerings are presently drawn from
among approved Women’s Studies courses and from required courses in the
proposed Women’s Studies B.A. Degree Program.
