WID for Students
Students should expect WID course sections to be writing intensive, and for a significant portion of their grade to be based on writing assignments assigned in the course.
The benefits for students are two-fold. On a practical level, students will be able to practice and improve their writing skills, which will benefit them in any career they choose. Students will also be exposed to the type of writing done by professionals in the discipline, which will greatly benefit them if they choose to embark on a career in the field.
Students taking WID courses also have access to Writing Fellows to help them in their WID course. Check out the Writing Fellows page for their office hours.
By the way, WID stands for Writing In the Disciplines. WID is a nationwide program dedicated to improving the quality of discipline-specific student writing.
