Writing Across the Curriculum
(WAC) is a nationwide initiative that began over thirty
years ago to promote the idea that writing can be used as a
tool for learning in all disciplines. Rather than just a
means of communication or an assessment device, WAC promotes
witting as an active learning tool that allows students to
practice both personal expression and critical thinking
skills within a discipline.
At Medgar Evers, the WAC
projects are coordinated by Steven Nardi and facilitated by
six graduate student writing fellows. The writing fellows
work closely with participating faculty members to design
the most effective writing curricula for their disciplines
and to disseminate their developed resources to the rest of
the department.
