  • How do we evaluate our progress?
  • How effective/successful are we in our efforts?
  • How are we using this knowledge to improve what we do and what we deliver?

OAQA works in concert with various University and College offices to ensure that Medgar Evers College meets and exceeds standards and expectations set by internal and external stakeholders.

Quality Assurance is best described as "making promises and providing evidence of keeping them". Quality Assurance refers to the process of evaluating / assessing the extent to which the individual / unit / institution is delivering on its promises.

Quality Assurance provides information and evidence that will enable the College to identify areas of strength and excellence as well as areas in need of focused attention for planned improvement in the short, medium and long term. The effective use of scarce resources necessitates prioritizing based on evidence.

Within the context of our mission, we achieve Quality Assurance by implementing a planned and systematic review process of an institution or program to determine that acceptable standards of education, scholarship, and infrastructure are being maintained and enhanced.

Quality Assurance identifies best practice in a non-threatening way, and spreads an awareness of the need for planning and QA throughout the College. The intent is to improve, not to censure areas of weakness.  

The ultimate goal of Quality Assurance processes is the best possible use of College resources i.e. accountability, value for money, and planned improvement.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education “Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education” as well as standards and criteria set by other accrediting bodies are considered as benchmarks of quality assurance.
