Middle States Team Arrival


 

The Middle States Commission Visiting Team will be at the College on Monday, October 30th through Wednesday, November 1st. We are asking that all Chairpersons plan to join the President, the Self-Study Steering Committee and key community stakeholders at a Welcome Reception/Dinner at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel on Sunday, October 29th at 5:15 PM.

The Middle States Visiting Team Review has and will assess the College in four ways:

 

1) Carefully read the institution’s “Self-Study Report;”

2) Conduct group and individual interviews with key personnel and/or students or recipients of service to extract validation to self-study assertions and/or hypotheses;

3)  Review documentation of minutes, reports, data, etc. from the resource file or specific files in the Resource/Document Room and in some cases in the various campus locations they visit (e.g., departments, library, labs, off-campus centers, etc.); and

4)  Conduct a cross-correlation of observations from conversations with the College community.

 

Finally, the Team will examine a) the accuracy/validation of the Self-Study, its assertions or hypotheses and (b) the strengths and/or challenges and the “recommendations for action” relative to the area (s) and how these will improve the institution.  Please keep in mind that the Team will provide the College with an exit report on Wednesday November 1st., between 10am and 12pm in the Founders Auditorium, and the Team Chairperson, Dr. William L. Pollard will: 

 

1) React to the Self-Study and the overall Team Visit

 

2) Provide an overview of the Team’s impression of the current state of the institution regarding the Characteristics of Excellence in general; and

 

3) Provide impressions of the College’s Self-Study Process.
