What is Middle States Accreditation? MEC Self-Study Committees: Structure and Membership |
Medgar Evers College
Self-Study Committee
To the College Community:
The College Self-Study Steering committee invites the College community to an Open Hearing to obtain feedback and to comment on the draft final report, the culmination of our College Self-Study Subcommittee draft reports. The Self-Study committees have involved faculty, staff, students and community stakeholders numbering over one hundred and forty individuals. The hearing is an essential part of the Self-Study process and will provide an opportunity for all segments of the College community to offer their responses and suggestions to the final report and its findings prior to its submission to Middle States.
We encourage all members of the College community to attend this hearing and to offer comments and advice to strengthen the report. The members of the Self-Study subcommittees are extremely interested in accurately portraying the College’s accomplishments, achievements, and assets as well as the challenges, and pertinent issues that our College has and will face as we move into the future. As the College has prepared for this decennial review of Middle States, it is clear that this has been an exhaustive review and an excellent opportunity to build on the College’s prospects for the future. We sincerely encourage the entire College family to attend and hear from their colleagues about the findings.
It is the belief of the Self-Study committee that everyone’s input is vital, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it might appear. Your opinions and observations represent an important and valuable perspective. The Self-Study work has been exemplified by collegial and open deliberations, and the College can only benefit from this continued discourse and reflection. The Self-Study process has promoted an atmosphere of honest assessment and an understanding that opposing views may and can exist within a process that seeks to promote student success and institutional effectiveness.
Finally, as you are aware, it is virtually impossible to find a schedule that will accommodate everyone. In an effort to allow ample opportunity for input and feedback from as many colleagues and college stakeholders as possible, we have scheduled a half day (12-6pm), Monday, September 25th, in the Lecture Hall of the S-Building.
Once again, we look forward to your input.
