Coordinator's Message
Since joining the Medgar Evers College faculty, I have had the distinct pleasure of serving as Coordinator of Medgar
Evers College Learning Community Network. Throughout my 30 year career as an educator, I have often lamented the fact
that there are so many people and organizations in New York City that are working diligently to improve teaching and
learning, but the results of their efforts are not evident in all communities.
New York City needs a vehicle to foster the collaboration of all constituencies that have a stake in the improvement of
teaching and learning in this great city. With the creation of The Learning Community Network in 1999, Medgar Evers
College has provided the framework and leadership to support a citywide collaborative effort to improve education in
New York City. Since its inception, Network membership and activities have expanded. By exploring our website, you can
learn more about The Medgar Evers College Learning Community Network. I invite you to become a Network member and active
participant. Additional information can be obtained by contacting me at (718) 270-4937 or e-mail nhosier@mec.cuny.edu.
Educationally yours,
Dr. Noreen Hosier
