COURAGE STRENGTH FORTITUDE
The circulation counter is located on the first floor of the Library. At the circulation counter library patrons may borrow books from the library collection.
Any MEC or CUNY patron can borrow circulating books from the Charles Evans Inniss Memorial Library with a valid CUNY I.D. card for a maximum period of:
Fines for overdue books begin the day after the due date for all borrowers(according to the loan period). Fines will be calculated on a daily basis, including days the library is closed (holidays, intersession, etc.) at 25¢ per day.
Each lost book will cost $35.00 (which includes the $10.00 processing fee).
Patrons with fully validated CUNY I.D. card may borrow one reserve item at a time for ONLY two hours (120 minutes). An automatic stop will be placed against any borrower (faculty, student or staff) after the reserve limit of 2 hours. Fine will thereafter be calculated at 10¢ per minute to a maximum of $20.00.
The fine policy is 25 cents per day for every day the book is overdue. Fines for overdue reserve materials are 10 cents per minute. If a patron accrues over $5 worth of fines, his/her borrowing privileges may be suspended until fines are paid. A printed account of all overdue books and fines can be acquired at the circulation counter.
The Reserve Collection is composed of books and other materials placed on reserve by instructors for required reading or to supplement class instruction. Reserved materials are shelved behind the circulation counter and must be requested at the counter. In most cases a Call Number is needed for the request. The materials can only be used under special restricted conditions. Most are slated for “In the Library Only”and must be read in the Library when it is open.
The fines on overdue reserve books are much higher because the materials are in very heavy demand and students need them to complete assignments.
Only ONE item at a time may be borrowed!
Submit your list of required materials you wish to be placed on reserve by completing the Reserves Requests form(s) and returning it to the Library, Bedford Building, prior to the semester in question. Reserve requests that are continuous should be so noted on the Reserve Request form(s). Personal copies of materials are accepted, but the library will not be held responsible for lost, theft or damage to items. Also , please forward the syllabus for each course in order to further assist us in ordering your reserve materials and helping to assist the students. The availability of reserve materials to students will be determined by the speed with which faculty submit their requests.
