Online
Course Info
The
online courses offered at Medgar Evers College are designed for students
who need the flexibility of attending classes either entirely or partially
outside the traditional classroom. There are three types
of online courses at the college:
Fully Online Courses:
In these courses there are no on-campus meetings. Students participate
in the class, via the Internet, from anywhere and at their own time. Students
will be expected to complete assignments at a computer and participate
in online activities.
Hybrid Courses:
In these courses at least 30% of the class activities will take place
online. Students participate in the class from anywhere. Students are
also expected to complete assignments at a computer and participate in
online activities.
Web-Enhanced Courses:
In these courses the instruction is conducted in the traditional face-to-face
mode with an added web component to enhance the students learning experience.

Student
Responsibilities for Online Learning
In order
to succeed in an online class, students need to have the required level
of computer skills, motivation and a commitment to learn and work on their
own. Online classes are good for students who can take the initiative
to complete coursework without the direct supervision of a professor.
Online learning
is not for everyone. Individuals who prefer face-to-face communication
or traditional group work should weigh these factors in determining if
an online class is appropriate. Academic standards for online courses
are the same as those for all other courses offered at the college.
- Students
who are already registered in the CUNY Portal, and know their username
and password, may log-in directly to Blackboard doorway using:
https://blackboard-doorway.cuny.edu
- Students
who are already registered in the CUNY Portal, and DO NOT know their
username or password, can get their username and email of record through
the Doorway. Then you must request a new password from the CUNY Portal
at www.cuny.edu because they cannot
be recovered.
- Students
who have never registered must also visit the CUNY
Portal. (Reviewing the Online Tutorial webpage first is highly recommended.)
