Corey McLean Scholarship
The Corey McLean Scholarship was established to help defer college costs to a Medgar Evers College student who has been diagnosed with or is the parent/guardian of a child with Sickle Cell Anemia (SCA). Corey McLean was a CUNY graduate and member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity who suffered many setbacks due to SCA during his college years. Throughout his challenges, he always kept an uplifted disposition and an unmitigated zeal for life. This scholarship honors that spirit and awards $500 to deserving Medgar Evers students.
The Albert Vann Legacy of Service Scholarship
The Albert Vann Legacy of Service Award Scholarship Committee, in collaboration with the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA, and Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration, Inc., has developed a scholarship award at Medgar Evers College to support students who are committed to public service and community involvement. This scholarship is an Annual Award for successive years until a student’s graduation or ineligibility. It is in the amount of $1,000 renewal every fall.
