Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Since the 1900’s, the Nursing Pinning Ceremony has been a tradition to celebrate the passage from nursing student to professional nurse. The pinning ceremony is a time for students to reflect on their accomplishment of successfully completing the nursing program. The Florence Nightingale pledge and candle lighting ceremony are highlights of the ceremony at which the nursing students are pinned with a nursing pin by the faculty of the Nursing Department.  The Nursing Department happily shares this tradition with the Medgar Evers College community, and the family and friends of the graduating students.
