

Participating in the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements between the City University and the employee organizations, and responsible for the development and analysis of policies and procedures involving regulatory matters, Dean Williams was appointed by Dr. Edison O. Jackson, President of Medgar Evers College, CUNY, as the Chief of Staff and Counsel to the President. Joining the administration Medgar Evers College, Dean Williams was responsible for management of the College’s internal affairs. Serving in this capacity for three years, she was reappointed as Dean of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, while retaining the appointment of Chief of Staff. Dean Williams provided leadership and support to the President for all matters related to contractual and legal mandates as proscribed by law or the Board of Trustees, CUNY.
Reappointed for another three years, in 1998 Dean Williams was appointed to the position Dean of Faculty and Staff Relations, and Counsel to the President. As Dean of this area, her new responsibilities included the management of the Human Resources and Labor Relations areas. The first Dean of this newly created administrative division, Dean Williams has successfully guided the implementation of a faculty and staff support mechanism that provides a one-stop all-access approach to dealing with labor relations, personnel administration, search committee coordination, staff development, and HEO screening.
Dean Williams stands apart from her predecessors as she has provided an unmatched ability to advise the President through the ever-increasing legal maze of the CUNY system. Additionally, for twelve years, Dean Williams has supplied the legal savvy, strengthening the policies and strategic planning that under gird the College’s mission. Combining a soft humor with a piercing insight, Dean Williams continues to embodied this mission "to create success, one student at a time."
